For the second year, SuperFirm were proud sponsors of A Country Practice 2016. ACP is a conference dedicated to practitioners from Regional and rural areas, with many well regarded and sizeable firms.

Having been an accountant, the challenge is always to approach the relevant sponsors only, to avoid carrying a whole heap of irrelevant information around.

As a sponsor at this event, the biggest value for us is in the informal conversations. That cup of coffee to really get to know what is ticking with a firm, what their real issues are. That cold beer at the end of the day, to unwind, and offer that piece of wisdom that so often comes up in general conversation.

Some great content at this years event too. Much discussion around Accountants Exemption as well as practice growth. Very little content on the flavour of recent years, Cloud and it’s impact on the profession. But the elephant in the room is advisory. It highlights to me that there will always be some form of disruption affecting accountants. Another distraction to deal with. Another reason why we can’t get to those meaty advisory assignments with clients. Another reason why we may get beaten to the punch by some other form of competition.

Advisory requires focus. Sometimes focus requires having a plan of attack and someone to implement it.

I’d love your feedback..What do you feel is holding you back from advisory success.
